Great music, fundraisers, and more this weekend.

The Knox-Galesburg Symphony continues the Masterworks Series Saturday, February 23rd with “Stars over Paris.” Guest Conductor Alexander Platt who is vying for the KGS Maestro position will be taking at the helm. With over 30 years of experience, Platt has traveled the country both as a student and a conductor. Most recently, Platt has been the Resident Conductor for the Chicago Opera Theater, Music Director at the Grand Forks Symphony Orchestra, and Principal Conductor at the Boca Raton Symphonia. “Why not some joyful French music to lighten-up a dark winter’s night?” Platt said. “We have some really great French repertoire. We’re starting with a very very famous French work – one of the great pieces of music about railroads. (It’s) this piece from the 1920s called Pacific 2-3-1. It’s like this 10-minute symphonic poem about a locomotive train. It’s one of the most exciting works in the repertoire. It’s a great start to our concert.” Ticket’s for Saturday’s (February 23rd) 7:30 pm concert at the Orpheum Theatre are available online at the Knox-Galesburg Symphony website or at the Orpheum Theatre’s website.
