Cerar’s Barnstormer Steakhouse looks like it will not survive, as owner Kevin Cerar announced the Monmouth favorite would be closing immediately in a Facebook video posted Monday morning.There was a flurry of decisions made in late Summer of 2018, involving the three eateries owned by Cerar, The Packinghouse, Petey’s Pub and the Barnstormer.
What finally shook out was that Petey’s closed, Packinghouse now has new owners and Cerar maintained the Barnstormer, which his parents Bernie and Monique opened in 1985.
That’s what made today’s announcement so surprising.
Cerar says the closure is due to “circumstances” beyond his control and tells WGIL that he’s unable to elaborate much further right now.
He says the future is uncertain but he’s working on possibilities for a “future business.”
“I do plan on posting things on Facebook as they come to me. This is a process, something I have to go through. Some circumstances happened that I just had to get it done and I have to do this to move forward,” Cerar says.
Cerar says he has no plans on selling the building at this time.
