Here’s what Quinn and Isaac had to say about Christy:

What sets this teacher apart from others?
Isaac – Mrs. Thompson is much different from other teachers because she is serious but still has a great sense of humor. For example: When our class did a pumpkin project like estimating the weight, estimate the length, and look inside the pumpkin Mrs. Thompson was cracking jokes. She makes sure learning is fun and uses good flexibility.
Quinn – Some students think that she is super strict and might want a different 3rd grade teacher but guess what? She is very, very, very, very, very, very nice! She is also very smart! Mrs. Thompson works hard with all the students in class and wants everyone to learn.

What is one thing this teacher does that is not in their job description but they do it anyway to help you or your child?
Isaac- I am not sure if this is in her job description but she makes sure that the students that are more advanced have learning opportunities and the students that are not ready have something easier to work on at their level.
Quinn- Well, this year she took extra money out of her own wallet to buy owl pellets. We were able to dissect the owl pellets in class and find bones inside. It was a lot of fun and our whole class learned from this activity. She spent her money on us and gave us a hands on learning experience.

Give an example of a way this teacher has helped or impacted you or your child
Isaac – Mrs. Thompson is a teacher that you can trust. She is fair to her students. An example is if you get a 1 on an assignment. (Not me!) She will not make fun of you. She will tell you to do better next time and give you a chance to better your grade.
Quinn- I think she treats nice! I am happy to be in her class! Mrs. Thompson is getting ready to retire and I believe she deserves the Big Red Apple award because she has worked many, many years with students to help them become smarter and better people!
Isaac and Quinn believe Mrs. Thompson deserves this recognition as well as the rest of the 3rd grade class at Silas Willard School!

Congratulations Christy Thompson, January’s KFM Teacher of the Month from Galesburg Nissan, Tompkins State Bank, Lacky Monuments, Cooks & CompanyArt Defined Studios and 105.3 KFM.
