Prescription pills and jewelry taken in residential burglary

Prescription pills and jewelry were reported stolen when a Galesburg residence was reportedly ransacked.

Police officers were dispatched to the 1600-block of East Grove Street for the theft at around 4:20 Thursday afternoon.

Once they arrived, officers spoke with two men, brothers, who were checking the house daily while their mother was in the hospital.

According to a report, the brothers told police that on that morning, they found the house to be unlocked and the home ransacked.

Police spoke with the mother on the phone who informed police of her prescription pills that were missing, including prescriptions of Hydrocodone, Narco, and Flexoril.

She also informed officers that a fraudulent medication refill had been called in that day, and she informed the doctor to put a freeze on all medication transactions.

She also told police that an estimated $1,000 in jewelry were missing.

No arrests had been made as of 9:45 Friday morning.
