Monmouth man passes away following Route 41 crash

A Monmouth man whose vehicle collided with a semi on Illinois Route 41 last week has died.31-year old Waylon Clark was the driver of an SUV that was crossing Munson Road on Thursday December 13th.

The semi-tractor trailer struck Clark’s side of the vehicle, pushing the car into the ditch and also seriously injuring his wife, Heidi Clark, who was a passenger.

Waylon passed away early Thursday morning at OSF St. Francis hospital in Peoria, according to a death notice sent by McGuire and Davies Funeral Home.

Both Clarks were taken by Life Flight helicopter to St. Francis from Cottage Hospital on the day of the crash.

His obituary says he was raised and educated in Monmouth and married Heidi only four months ago in August.

He was working at PPSI- Sanitation Service in Monmouth and was described as someone who enjoyed animals, being outdoors and “was always willing to help anyone at anytime.”

Heidi’s condition is unknown at this time.

Waylon is also survived by his daughter, Brooklyn.

A Celebration of Life is being held at the Gerlaw Christian Church, 2 p.m.Wednesday and friends can call an hour before.
