The Boatload of Toys holiday toy drive runs from December 14th – December 16th.

New and unwrapped toys for children of Safe Harbor Family Crisis Center will be collected and loaded into a boat now through Sunday, December 16th at 5:00 pm at Walmart in Galesburg. An event that began in New York City in 1974 and was brought to Galesburg in 1993 is the Galesburg Tuba Christmas. The holiday concert which includes local and area musicians will feature sing-a-longs as well as play-a-longs. “There’s a variety of Christmas music,” said organizer Gloria Bailey. “We have the Merry Tuba Christmas music and we use the same music every year. All the favorites are in there and some of the not quite mainstream – I mean, there’s some obscure things in there. But it’s all good. There will probably be a few sing-a-longs for the audience and usually one of those involves sleigh bells.” The free concert is Saturday, December 15th beginning at 2:00 pm at the First Lutheran Church in Galesburg. Friday, December 14th and Saturday, December 15th Sugar High Theatricals presents Christmas in Hollywood. The 5th annual Christmas Musical is being held at the Northgate Family Recreation Center in the Clubroom. Melanie Delbridge with Sugar High Theatricals tells WGIL the show features music from Christmas movies with snippets from movies as well. “People love our shows because they’re very loose and funny and this kind of goes along with that,” Delbridge said. “One of our regular actors, Matt – keeps trying to tell his favorite Christmas story and all the other cast members keep interrupting him with their favorite Christmas movie. So we do The Grinch,  White Christmas, It’s A Wonderful Life, Bobby Dillard and Samantha Carr singing Silver Bells – we did the original version of it.” Tickets are $15 and $5 for students.
