Just about everyone is familiar with the Goodwill Store. Not many however are familiar with the amount of other services Goodwill offers in Galesburg. Goodwill Industries of Central Illinois offers Veterans Services – there is the Goodwill-ran Downing Veterans Home in Peoria, Youth Mentoring Services, and Employment Services. The employment program, aided with funding through the United Way of Knox County, also works with the Galesburg Public Library, and the Knox County Area Partnership for Economic Development. Through the program, Goodwill works with over 4,000 people and over 500 businesses helping people get employment. Johnna Wagner, Program Services Manager for Goodwill Industries of Central Illinois says the services are for everyone. “If you’re not unemployed, you probably know someone who is,” Wagner said. “They can stop in our store and get information and we would love to meet with them. We’re here on Wednesdays from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm. We do it by appointment or just stop by the library or housing authority. Individuals with large gaps in their employment or with a criminal record can find out how they can become more attractive to employers.
