Choral Dynamics, Gift of Lights, Cookies, Trivia, Santa and more this weekend

Choral Dynamics returns to the Orpheum Theatre stage for a Christmas concert with a country twist this weekend. Friday, November 30th and Saturday, December 1st at 7:30 pm and Sunday, December 2nd at 2:00 pm is the Christmas Jamboree. Co-producer of the show, Candy Dawson tells WGIL it’s a blend of new and old Christmas songs plus some favorites. “We’re doing some songs that have been done by country artists in the past,” Dawson said. “There’s some Taylor Swift music in there, some Lady Antebellum music in there…. You’re going to hear some Blue Christmas. Then there is some new Christmas music that was written with a country flare. You’re still going to hear some of your favorites: Joy to the World….and O Holy Night and those types of things. They’ll have a little more of a country rhythm to them than your classic rhythm, but that’s what makes it fun. Proceeds from each Choral Dynamics performance benefit a non-profit. This year’s winter show will benefit the Altrusa Club. Altrusa is an international non-profit organization focused on community service founded 1917. Choral Dynamics has been performing in Galesburg for 42 years – and Dawson says applications for the beneficiary of the June 2019 show will go out soon. Tickets for this weekend’s shows are $15 and are available at the Orpheum Theatre Box Office or online.
