Galesburg woman facing attempted murder charge

A new charge of attempted murder has been filed against a Galesburg woman, who originally was only facing domestic battery charges.

31-year-old Fleurette F. Comes was in Knox County Circuit Court on Monday for domestic battery and child endangerment charges where her bond was set at $25,000.

On Friday, the charges were amended and a Class X Felony of Attempted Murder was added. It is alleged that Comes tried to suffocate her 3-month old baby.

Bond was increased on Friday to $250,000 by Judge Raymond A. Cavanaugh, who added that she have no contact with anyone under the age of 18.

Comes will be back in court for a preliminary hearing on November 26th.
