Bail set at $20,000 for man who threatened police officer

Bond was set at $20,000 for a Galesburg man accused of threatening a police officer.

29-year-old Nickolas S. Reed made a video appearance in Knox County Circuit Court this afternoon on charges of threatening a public official, a Class 3 Felony.

If convicted, Reed could see 2 to 5 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. Reed refuted the charge against him, calling the allegation false.

According to a police report, officers were called out to a residence in the 300-block of Jefferson Street for an unknown disturbance.

Reed allegedly became hostile toward police after making a claim that there was “dope” inside the residence and a K-9 needed to be dispatched.

When officers informed Reed there was no K-9 on duty, he began obstructing the investigation.

He allegedly told police if they did not leave his residence, he would physically remove them and eventually was arrested.

Reed will be back in court on Friday, November 9th, for a bond rehearing.
