Music trivia Saturday to benefit the Galesburg Great Balloon Race

The Galesburg Great Balloon Race, the annual summertime event, is holding one of their two music trivia fundraisers Saturday.

Teams of trivia enthusiasts will need to guess the names of the tunes they hear as well as the artists if they hope to successfully win.

Greg Saul, one of the organizers of the balloon race, tells WGIL that the event is a product of the whole community pitching in.

“Fortunately enough we have some good sponsors that help us out, and the City of Galesburg helps us,” Saul said. “The whole community pitches in so it’s kind of nice to see people come to our music trivia nights and help us out.”

Chris LaGrow, DJ on WGIL’s sister station The Laser, will be running the show at the Knights of Columbus hall in Galesburg.

Cost is $10 per person and teams can consist of up to 10 people. There will also be a 50/50 drawing and baked goods for sale.

Food will be available for purchase from the Knights of Columbus.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m., the fun starts at 7:00 p.m.

The Galesburg Great Balloon Race holds two trivia fundraisers, the second being in the spring.
