United Way’s Celebrate the Journey Dinner is Monday, October 29th

The United Way of Knox County is hosting their Celebrate the Journey Dinner Event Monday, October 29th at Cedar Creek Hall. Doors open tonight at 5:00 pm with the dinner at 6:00 pm and guest speaker Michelle Icard at 7:00 pm with “Making Sense of Middle School”.  Icard is a write, speaker, educator and author of “Middle School Makeover: Improving the Way You and Your Child Experience Middle School.” Her book earned a starred review from Publisher’s Weekly for being out-standing in its genre. Executive Director of the United Way of Knox County, Laun Dunn tells WGIL the evening is primarily educational for attendees. “Michelle takes on youth development as a conversation with parents because once they hit middle school, we have kind of a combination reaction,” Dunn said. “Parenting as our parents did, but also we’re kind of adding our own experiences from our youth. It’s important to remember as a parent that your child is different than you – you’re going to have different experiences, and also the world is a lot different than when we were in school.” Tickets are $30 and can be purchased online here or at the United Way offices at 311 East Main Suite 511 in Galesburg. Dinner will be provided by Laura Lytle of Two Tomatoes Kitchen.
