Bond was set in Knox County Circuit Court this afternoon for an individual charged with ”keying” vehicles over the weekend.
19-year-old John L. Treadway made a video appearance with Judge Raymond A. Cavanaugh, where bond was at $10,000 and appointed the public defender to represent him.
Treadway faces three counts of Criminal Damage to Property, a Class Four felony, as well as a misdemeanor charge of trespassing.
It is alleged that Treadway keyed three cars in the parking lot of Dairy Queen on North Henderson Street Saturday. That area had seen a spike in property damage to vehicles last week.
Reading from a police report, Assistant State’s Attorney Sabrina Stroops said that Treadwell was seen running from DQ after the damage was discovered on three vehicles in the parking lot. A single key was found in his possession.
A second individual was also arrested in the incident, but only Treadway was charged with the criminal damage felonies.
Stroops had requested bail of $20,000 citing the spike in vehicles ”keyed” in that area, but Cavanaugh called that “circumstantial” when setting bail.
Treadway will be back in court Friday for a bond re-hearing, and December 4th for a preliminary hearing.
