Three individuals indicted on federal methamphetamine charges

Three people have been indicted on federal charges for distributing methamphetamine throughout several counties in West Central Illinois.

23-year-old Levi J. Sloan and 48-year-old Donald E. Graham – both of Bushnell – and James A. Newman of Dallas City were indicted in U.S. District Court in Rock Island yesterday as part of Operation Iced Out.

In a joint statement from McDonough County Sheriff Nick Petitgout and Macomb Police Chief Curt Barker, a six-month federal investigation that has covered McDonough, Knox, Warren, Fulton, Henderson, and Hancock County has led to the seizure of over two pounds of meth and multiple firearms.

Well over a dozen subjects were arrested in relation to the operation, including 29-year-old Kaleb E. Holzheuser of Oquawka who was apprehended in Galesburg in August, and convicted this month.

In total, 20 people have been arrested on meth delivery charges over the seven-county area, and two more are currently wanted by the McDonough County Sheriff’s Office.

13 different agencies assisted the Macomb/McDonough County Drug Unit including the Galesburg and Monmouth Police Departments as well as the Warren County Sheriff and State’s Attorney’s offices.

Petitgout adds that more arrests and indictments are expected during the next several months.
