$5,000 bond set for pair in meth delivery

Two more individuals made appearances in Knox County Circuit Court on Tuesday for methamphetamine delivery charges.

40-year-old Adam H. Wagner of Knoxville and 44-year-old Susan J. Whiting of Galesburg made video appearances with Judge Paul L. Mangieri who set bond at $5,000 and appointed the public defender for both.

Wagner is charged with a Class 2 felony of meth possession with intent to deliver under five grams, as well as a Class 3 meth possession. Whiting is facing a Class 1 felony of meth possession with intent to deliver under fifteen grams, and a Class 2 meth possession.

According to Galesburg Police reports, officers conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle near the intersection of North Seminary and East Water Streets Sunday night around 7:57. The driver was identified as Wagner, who at the time had a $150,000 warrant for his arrest in a home invasion case – which would later be dropped.

Officers observed a briefcase in the passenger side of the vehicle, which Wagner said was Whitings.

Officers would search the briefcase and find a glass smoking device with burnt residue -suspected to be from smoking methamphetamine, cannabis, six different plastic baggies with white residue, and a baggie with a crystal-like substance that would eventually field test positive for meth and weigh in at 1.75 grams. Also found was a black digital scale with white residue on the surface.

Neither individual would own up to the ownership of the briefcase, so both were arrested on the possession of it and transported to the Knox County Jail.

Officers would learn later in the night that Knox County Sheriff’s Deputies at the jail had found an additional 8.1 grams of meth inside of Whiting’s purse – which led to the state charging her with a higher amount.

Whiting will be back in Knox County Court on October 29th, while Wagner will be back on November 1st.
