Bustos says claims against Kavanaugh deserves FBI investigation

Congresswoman Cheri Bustos is joining many of her Democratic colleagues in calling for an FBI investigation in sexual misconduct claims leveled at Supreme Court Nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

She issued a statement Wednesday saying, “before getting a promotion to a lifetime appointment on the highest court in the land” the claims must be investigated.

This came on the same day a statement sworn under penalty of perjury was produced, in which a woman accuses Kavanaugh of participating in “gang rapes.”

Kavanaugh for his part, has categorically denied all allegations.

Thursday is the scheduled testimony of Kavanaugh and another accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, who claims he sexual misconduct, both in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Bustos says accusations are all three “credible” the “women must be taken seriously.”

She accuses Republicans of a “partisan sprint to the finish line” to confirm Kavanaugh in lieu of a “pursuit of truth and accountability in government.”

Senate Republicans have signaled they don’t believe today’s testimony will have much bearing in Kavanaugh’s confirmation process with Leader Mitch McConnell vowing to “plow right through.”
