Galesburg woman facing meth charges

New charges have been filed against a Galesburg woman who was a no-show for court Monday.

27-Cierra R. Brahmstedt was due in Knox County Circuit Court on a felony retail theft case from earlier in the year. When she did not show up, a $25,000 warrant was issued for her arrest.

At approximately 8:00 that night, Galesburg Police officers were informed that Brahmstedt had rented a room at the Best Western Prairie Inn at 300 S. Soangetaha Road. Officers were dispatched and able to make contact with her, and arrest her free of any incidents.

Officers did a sweep of the room looking for anyone else that may be inside, to which they discovered a metal tray with a glass pipe, they recognized as being used for smoking methamphetamine, as well as a crystal-like substance that would later field test positive for meth.

According to reports, Brahmstedt told officers that the substance they saw was meth and that there were needles and smoking pipes inside the room as well.

Officers conducted a search and found four silver spoons, ten syringes – which she admitted was used for injecting meth, a plastic tube, and a glass pipe.

On Tuesday, Brahmstedt made a video appearance with Judge James Standard who did not add any new bail on the meth charges, as her bail for not appearing in court had been set at $25,000.

The public defender’s office was also appointed to represent her in the new drug case. She’ll be back in court on October 2nd.
