Not guilty plea entered in 2017 shooting case

A Galesburg man recently arrested more than a year after a shooting incident in town has pleaded not guilty.

Knox County Circuit Court records indicate 21-year-old Adrian Johnson Jr., made the plea after a judge found probable cause for his case to continue. Johnson faces Class-X felony charges of Aggravated Battery and Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm.

Galesburg Police say Johnson is believed to shot at a man who was a passenger in a vehicle near South and Harding Streets in February in 2017, causing several injuries. Johnson reportedly thought the victim in the shooting was someone else.

A Chicago man was initially charged with the crime, but that case was dismissed.

Johnson is scheduled to be back in court for a pre-trial hearing November 5th. He remains jailed.
