Whether you take to the streets, or take to the skies, there’s plenty to do this weekend. Corpus Christi Church in Galesburg is having their annual Quarter Raffle Fundraiser Friday, September 7th at the Knights of Columbus Hall. Admission is $10 per person and you can purchase quarters there or bring your own. Doors open at 6:00 pm. Food will be available to purchase and the raffle begins at 7 pm with lots of great items to win.Part of the proceeds will go to St. Vincent De Paul’s local food pantry.
The Elmwood Fall Festival began September 5th, but the bulk of activities, food vendors, and more continues on the 7th and 8th. Friday will feature the carnival beginning at 6:00 pm, the Elmwood FFA Steer Sale at 6:30 pm, and live entertainment beginning at 7:00 pm. Saturday includes the 5k run/walk beginning at 8:00 am, the “Fall” themed parade at 12:30 pm, a kiddie tractor pull at 1:30 pm, and more live entertainment beginning at 3:30 pm and into the evening. The Warren County Prime Beef Festival also continues with tonight’s carnival, Figure 8 derby, and live music. Saturday, September 8th will include the strongman contest, kid’s day activities, power wheels derby and demolition derby.
The 47th National Stearman Fly-In will conclude this weekend. Dawn Patrol flights launch Saturday, September 8th beginning at 6:30 am. The Formation Flying contest is at 12:30 pm with the annual banquet and award presentations at 7:00 pm.
There’s something for everyone during the Spirit of Alpha on Saturday, September 8th. The Vendor Fair and Farmers Market begins at 9:00 am. Bring the kids to the bounce house, carnival, and Miller’s petting zoo from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. The afternoon also includes Oxford Fire Water Games, a bags tournament, and Lighted Parade at dusk. On Sunday, September 9th join the members of Grace Lutheran Church in Knoxville from 8:00 am – 1:00 pm as they fill a truck with non-perishable food items. Items will be shared between Fish and the Knoxville Food Pantry. Grace Lutheran is located at 108 South Timber Street in Knoxville.
