Galesburg Council to vote on Jimmy’s Pizza financing

Galesburg City Council will meet tonight and consider a redeveloper’s agreement for Jimmy’s Pizza.

The establishment, which was iconic and long established in Wataga, burned down in June of 2017.

Deb McCormick who owns the business with her husband, Jim, told WGIL in April that they likely wouldn’t be rebuilding in Wataga.

Council documents say they plan on a complete restoration at 379 East Tompkins Street, next door to Cooks and Company.

Essentially council will decide on whether or not to provide $31,000 in Tax Increment Financing from the city, on the projects completion.

They also would vote on a $85,000 loan guarantee for the business.

They can also approve a $39,000 workers compensation settlement and entering into an agreement for the city’s electric supply.

Alderman could also approve a bid from Supreme Radio for around $41,000 to supply the Galesburg Police Department with 40 portable radios.

The cost per radio $1,035 and includes accessories like cases, ear pieces and antenna.

Council can also approve a bid from Key Equipment for a little under $16,000 for storm sewer inspection equipment for the city’s street department.

Aldermen can also approve a change order for work done to install traffic lights at the corner of Carl Sandburg Drive and Broad Street.

The work is already done at the intersection but the change order, costing an additional $33,000 or 6 percent of the project’s cost is because of adjustments that needed to be made to address property owners concerns about access.
