One wounded in Tuesday night shooting

A 17-year-old was treated at Cottage Hospital following a shooting Tuesday night.

Officers were dispatched to the 1000-block of South Street at about 8:00 for a call that a shooting had just occurred.

Police reports indicate the victim had a “minor wound” that wasn’t actively bleeding.

According to the report, the suspected shooter, another 17-year-old teen, had contacted the police following the incident.

Reports indicate the shooter told officers he had pulled the trigger, thinking the gun’s safety was engaged.

The teen told police he could not remember what he did with the gun after shooting it.

Reports indicate the gun was not recovered, and the shell casing was not believed to have been found.

The 17-year-old shooter was arrested and taken to the Mary Davis Home for housing until he went before a judge.
