Armored personnel carrier struck by SUV

It had only been sitting at Lincoln Park for a day and a half before the Armored Personnel Carrier took some damage, this time though it was struck by a moving vehicle.

According to the accident report, a 2010 Nissan Pathfinder being driven by a 41-year-old woman was attempting to turn when it struck the military vehicle Saturday evening around 6:29.

The Pathfinder was heading east on Leisure Lane and attempted to turn north onto Treadwell Drive at the fork in the road.

The report indicates that as the turn was being made the driver drove off of the roadway on to the grass and apparently continued on to the concrete and struck the APC – pushing it approximately five feet.

A small tear was observed on the rear panel of the armored transport vehicle where the SUV made contact with it.

Reports did not indicate there were any injuries as a result of the crash, and the driving status of the driver is unknown at this time.

As of 10:30 Monday morning, crews were seen working around the APC.
