205 to consider another mental health agreement between with Bridgeway

The District 205 School Board could approve another services agreement with Bridgeway to provide mental health counseling for students at Lombard Middle School.

The program was initiated last year after then Principal Nick Sutton noticed significant needs in the area of mental health.

Indication in previous meetings was that this program seemed to be a success, helping middle school students and families deal with social and mental issues.

The agreement appears to be similar to the one that was signed last year, whereas Bridgeway would hire a counselor who would work exclusively at Lombard and with students and families.

The Board of Education could also approve a tentative budget for the coming fiscal year.

It’s the time of the year where Superintendents and their staff start putting together the spending plan for the upcoming year and looking at where their income is coming from.

If approved tonight the board will have to display the budget for 30 days before it’ll be approved again.

Board documents indicate that a budget hearing has been scheduled September 17th at 7:00 p.m. at the Board’s offices on Harrison Street.

Also on the agenda for tonight’s meeting is a facilities agreement between the city of Galesburg and the district.

The Board of Education meets Monday night at the Harrison Street facility at 7:00 p.m. .
