A year after the “Together Forever” star launched his own brand in partnership with Danish brewer Mikkeler, the singer will open a bar in London on October 19th. But it won’t trade off his celebrity.
Instead of going with Rick’s Place or Astley’s Alley, the Mikkeler Bar in the Shoreditch section of East London will be named for the brewery magnate he became friends with several years ago: Mikkel Borg Bjergsø.
Astley tells Britain’s NME, “Through his enthusiasm and passion for real quality, I have fallen back in love with beer. London is a great city, but it needs a Mikkeler bar and it is really exciting to be part of creating Mikkeler’s first bar in the U.K. with Mikkel and his fantastic team.”
Last year, Rick and Mikkeller joined forces on Astley’s Northern Hop Lager, which went on sale in Britain last year — but is not yet available in the U.S. or Canada.
