Vehicle fire put out on Lincoln Park Drive

Galesburg fire fighters and police officers responded to a vehicle fire Wednesday afternoon at Lincoln Park.

According to a police report, officers were dispatched to Lincoln Park and Treadwell Drives at around 3:50 for the fire.

Once on scene officers observed a 2007 Nissan to be fully engulfed in flames. Fire personnel arrived on scene and extinguished the flames.

A witness told police she had been behind the Nissan when she observed the driver run from the vehicle.

The driver told officers he had been westbound on Treadwell when he observed smoke coming into the cabin.

He stopped and and popped the hood of his vehicle, when he noticed smoke billowing form the engine compartment causing him to evacuate from the area.

It was noted in reports that officers observed damage to Treadwell Drive, prompting Galesburg Park Department personnel to arrive and barricade off that section of the road.
