Fulton County Sheriff’s Deputies and fire rescue personnel responded to Illinois Route 9 in Fiatt late Sunday night for a report of a rollover crash in front of a residence. The crash occurred near the intersection of Route 9 and Bradley Road. According to a release by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department, a vehicle operated by 39-year-old Mandy K. Schmidt of Canton was traveling eastbound on Route 9 when it went into a ditch on the south side of the highway. The vehicle struck a culvert, became airborne, and struck a utility pole before coming to a rest on the driver side. Schmidt suffered moderate injuries in the crash. After further investigation, Schmidt was being charged with driving while her license is revoked, operation of an uninsured vehicle, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Personnel from Cass-Putnam Rescue Squad, Cuba Fire Department and Fulton County Emergency Medical Association responded to the scene. Schmidt was transported by ambulance to Graham Hospital and will appear in Fulton County Court at a later date.
