32nd serving of the Taste of Galesburg is tonight

One of Galesburg’s most popular family-friendly events returns this evening to the downtown.

Bring your appetite to Simmons street for the Taste of Galesburg today from 4:00 pm to 10:30 pm. Organizers Kraig Boynton and Deb Cratty tell WGIL 25 local restaurants will be featured.

“We’ve kept it the same traffic flow this year, it really works well,” Boynton said. “Sue (Dickinson) has done a great job. Just the work she’s put into it has made our lives a lot easier. We have a committee of about 12 people. We have the City staff that are helping us. Then we have about 148 volunteers that help work this event.” “We’ve had a lot of different organizations over the years that can earn money for themselves by helping to set these things up,” Cratty added.

The Taste will also be featuring a raffle this year giving away Cubs/Cardinals tickets, Lynyrd Skynyrd tickets, $1,000 in cash and $500 in local restaurant gift cards. The raffle will benefit the Prairie Players Civic Theatre and will be drawn at 8:15 pm on the main stage. Musical entertainment includes Bits & Pieces (4:30 pm – 6:30 pm on the West Stage), Jera & The Absolutes (4:00 pm – 6:00 pm on the North Stage), and Spoken Four (6:30 pm to 10:30 pm on the Main Stage).

Attendees can enter from either the Seminary Street entrance or Kellogg Street entrance. Admission is five dollars and children twelve and under are free. Tokens are a dollar a piece, and most food items cost one to five tokens. For more information, restaurant lists, and maps visit the Taste of Galeburg website or on Facebook.
