Public input sought for parks and rec masterplan, adoption could be quickly approaching

The City of Galesburg’s Master Plan for Parks and Recreation has a draft ready that can be viewed by the public. The 77-page document may seem like a daunting read but Parks and Rec Director Tony Oligney-Estill recommends just glancing at the first few pages.

There’s an executive summary that consists of a few pages on how research was conducted and recommendations for city parks, recreation facilities and trails.
The plan can be found at the City of Galesburg’s website or right here.

The City will have a tent at the Taste of Galesburg this Thursday from 4 to 10 p.m. where residents are encouraged to come with questions and comments concerning the parks and rec masterplan.
Public input is being accepted up until Friday, July 27 and then Oligney-Estill says the following there will be a presentation to City Council.

“Assuming that the council is in favor at that point or that there isn’t much needed revision, we would send it to adoption on August 6th,” Oligney-Estill says.

Comments can also be emailed directed to Oligney-Estill at toestill@ci.galesburg.il.us.
