Knox County Board to vote on future of nursing home administrator

The Knox County Board is expected to vote on an item tomorrow night that could end Rachel Secrist’s tenure as administrator of the Knox County Nursing Home.Secrist has served as the county run nursing facility’s top administrator for over 5 years.

WGIL on Tuesday reached out to several members of the Knox County Board that sit on the committee that oversees the nursing home.

None of them were able to go into detail explaining the measures to be voted on Wednesday night, but they confirmed they would be making a decision on Secrist’s future as administrator.

Calls were also placed for Board Chairwoman Pamela Davidson but attempts to reach her were unsuccessful.

The board will vote a “separation and severance agreement” for the nursing home’s administrator as well as “action regarding the employment agreement” of the administrator.

This follows this spring when it came to light the nursing home was over a $1 million in the red due to Medicaid, Medicare and insurance processing errors dating back years.

Also nursing home employees, represented by AFSCME Council 31, have been critical of nursing home administration and staffing levels.
