Probable cause found for one of two drug charges for Galesburg man

Bail was set and probable cause was only found for one of two charges for in the case of a Galesburg man arrested Monday morning after officers found cocaine in his possession.

Charges filed against 43-year-old Jon R. Logan II in Knox County Circuit Court include a Class 1 Felony of Manufacturing/Delivery of Cocaine between 1 and 15 grams, and a Class 4 Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Logan made a video appearance with Judge Raymond A. Cavanaugh found probable cause for only the possession charge. Bail was set at $3,000 and a public defender was appointed.

According to police reports, Logan was arrested following a traffic stop, where officers discovered he had a suspended license.

It was noted in police reports that officers observed Logan “lunging” towards the passenger side of the vehicle. Soon after being pulled over he exited the vehicle with his hands in the air.

A search of the vehicle turned up point-2 grams of white powder that field tested positive for cocaine, as well as 7 to 10 empty baggies, with some containing a white powder residue, and a box of baking soda.

A bail rehearing date has been scheduled for July 20th, and a preliminary hearing for August 21st.
