Bond set for man in case of a felon possessing a sword

Bond has been set at $5,000 for a Galesburg man who was arrested after making an alleged threat with a sword Friday morning.

39-year-old Jason T. Snell was arrested after Galesburg Police officers were dispatched to the 500-block of Liberty street in reference to a domestic dispute.

Snell allegedly had displayed a 27″ long sword. He was arrested after officers discovered a prior felony conviction on his record.

He made a video appearance in Knox County Circuit Court Monday where Judge Raymond A. Cavanaugh set his bail and appointed a public defender to represent him.

A bond rehearing has been scheduled for July 20th, and a preliminary hearing for August 13th.
