Another sunny weekend – another chance for fresh produce during the Galesburg Farmers’ Market Saturday, July 7th starting at 8:00 am. The market is located on Simmons Street between Seminary and Kellogg. Discovery Depot Children’s Museum in Galesburg has a weekend full of fun for kids. Saturday starting at 10:00 am is Growing Up Green where kids can create their own fun veggie critters. Sunday July 8th, kids can craft, create, eat and explore cool treats with Popsicle Palooza at the Depot starting at 12:30 pm. Fast and furious accordion-driven dance music of South Louisiana is coming to Galva on Sunday as the Levitt Amp Concert Series continues. Nathan and the Zydeco Cha Chas will take over Wiley Park in Galva at 7:00 pm on Sunday. Madison, Wisconsin native indie-pop band Seasaw opens the concert at the park at 6:00 pm. The Knox County Fair has a week chock-full of events for the whole family starting next week. Starting Monday, July 9th at the Grandstands, Harness Racing gets underway at 5:00 pm. Tuesday July 10th, starting at 6:30pm, the Illiana Tractor and Truck Pulls with mini rods take over the track. Wednesday, July 11th are the Stock Car Races with hot laps starting at 6:30 pm. Thursday, July 12th the Overlanders Mud Drags return – racing on two tracks starting at 6:00 pm. A fun Friday at the fair includes the Kids Power Wheels figure 8 at 5:00 pm and the Western Illinois Figure 8 Racing Series starting at 6:00 pm. Saturday July 14th includes the Kids Power Wheels demo derby at 4:00pm and the Demolition Derby with Robbos Extreme Derby Promotions beginning at 5:00 pm. Other week-long activities include nightly Beer Tent live music starting Wednesday night through Saturday. Prime Time Amusements will have the carnival running Tuesday through Friday from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The fair also features pig racing, antique tractor displays, food vendors and more.
