Two arrested on weapon charges

Two individuals were arrested Monday on felony weapons charges following a traffic stop in Galesburg.

Police reports indicate 23-year-old Spenser M. J. Fletcher and 20-year-old Sabrina M. Baker, both of Galesburg, are being charged with two counts each of being felons in possession of a weapon, and two counts of unlawful use of a weapon.

According to reports, officers performed a traffic stop in the area of Monroe and W. North Streets at about 6:00 p.m.

Fletcher was identified as having an outstanding 2018 warrant for possession of under five grams of methamphetamine and was arrested.

Baker cooperated with police, telling them that there were illegal narcotics in her vehicle and allowed it to be searched. She told officers there was at least half a gram of meth in the center console.

Officers found a yellow baggie containing the suspected substance. She claimed that Fletcher gave her the drug to conceal, he denied any knowledge of it as well as whatever they found in the vehicle.

Police also found a bag filled with clothing, a GoPro Camera, men’s “Axe” body spray and two t-shirts. Also inside the bag was brass knuckles, a fixed blade knife, and two knives that officers believed were throwing knives.

Baker advised police that the bag belonged to Fletcher, saying he had it with him when she picked him up and she observed him putting it behind the front seats. It was noted in the reports that the clothing found appeared to be of sizes that would not reasonably fit Baker.

Reports indicate further charges, including those for the found suspected methamphetamine, were forthcoming.

Both individuals were taken to the Knox County Jail for processing.
