Fireworks set to light up the sky for independence day

America’s Independence is today so that can only mean one thing…skies full of exploding color in local skies this evening.

Galesburg Broadcasting which includes WGIL and sister stations FM95, 105.3 KFM and 92.7 FM The Laser are sponsoring the largest of the programs in the area with Big, Bang, Boom at Lake Storey.

Not only is the display itself impressive, but unique for a community of this size the show is synced to a music soundtrack on WGIL and The Laser.

Leading up to the fireworks relays, games, prizes will be happening at Lakeside SplashZone with admission.

Also Lake Storey Beach will be open for swimming, paddle boating, canoeing, jon-boats, picnicking not to mention Galesburg Broadcasting with their long held frisbee tosses and prize wheel.

Knoxville’s also hosting fireworks tonight at James Knox Park with the Knoxville Community Band performing at 7:30 p.m.

In Monmouth the fireworks display will be at Citizen’s Lake, the location of their show for the last 20 years.

Meanwhile Orion will hold their fireworks at the east end of Charger Field behind the high school, Geneseo at Richmond Hill Park, and in Galva in their park district.
