Galesburg alderman tonight to vote on bids for Lakeside upgrades and roof repair

Galesburg Aldermen Monday night will have a seemingly uncontroversial meeting, approving bids for new equipment at Lakeside and a change order for a roof repair.

Administration in recommending the lowest of two bids, coming in at around $250,000 be approved to replace the middle pool’s play equipment.

Parks and Rec Director Tony Oligney-Estill told WGIL in January that the plan is to replace the equipment late 2018, after the swimming season, and have it ready for public use next summer.

Aldermen could also approve a $10,000 change order for roof replacement taking place at the Brooks Street Fire Station.

Aldermen will also have as a part of their consent agenda a renewal of the program that allows all students, faculty and staff of Carl Sandburg College to ride the city bus for free.

The resolution is contingent on a little less than $3,000 from Sandburg.

Galesburg City Council meets at 6:30 at City Hall.

Knoxville City Council is also meeting Monday night and they are expected to accept the resignation of assistant at the Knoxville Public Library, Megan White.

As White departs they will vote on creating the new part time position of a painter for city projects.

Also on their agenda are waivers for architectural drawings for two buildings.

One would be a city garage and the other would be for Community Bible Church, related to their ongoing renovations this summer.

Under new business they will discuss TIF funding for certain city equipment purchases.
