Purple Hanger resale shop reopens on Broad Street

After being out of operation for about six months The Purple Hanger Resale Shoppe is having a soft opening Friday at a new location.

They had done business at 367 W. Tompkins St. but had to move when the building was sold and Cooks and Company moved in from their former location on S. Seminary.

The Purple Hanger will now be at 169 N. Broad St. situated between the public square and the 4L Plaza, in the former location of Maximum Performance gym.

Kathy Richardson, Executive Director of Safe Harbor Family Crisis Center that runs The Purple Hanger they will have a grand opening on July 19.

She tells WGIL that she thinks the location will be an upgrade as far as customers’ shopping experience.

“I think that the customers will appreciate the wider aisles,” said Richardson. “It’ll be more conductive to having a more pleasant shopping experience. We will be able to put out more merchandise and so I think the selection will be greater.

She adds that besides feeling good about finding great deals, customers should know the money spent at the store goes to help neighbors in need.

“100% of the proceeds from the resale shop comes back to Safe Harbor Family Crisis Center, so that we can provide the same quality services to the survivors of domestic violence and their children.”

Richardson says that the money made stays in Knox County.
