Suspect in Railroad Days shooting incident arrested

UPDATED  It didn’t take long for Galesburg Police to arrest the man that Chief David Christensen says is believed to be responsible for Saturday night’s shooting incident at the Railroad Days carnival.

Christensen says 18-year-old Latrell Patterson was arrested by officers Monday night at a home in the 700 block of Monmouth Boulevard, and faces charges including Reckless Discharge of a Firearm and Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon.

Patterson, Christensen says, left a fight that was escalating in the area of the carnival Saturday night, retrieved a gun from a vehicle, returned, and fired at least two shots, based on shell casings found at the scene.

No one was hurt, but the incident was caught on numerous photos and videos posted to social media.

Patterson is being held in the Knox County Jail pending an initial court appearance Wednesday at 1:30pm.
