On Air Now

Plenty of warmth and rainfull so far this June.

It’s been a warm, wet June thus far in Illinois.

Temperature have been more than four degrees above normal this month – that’s according to State Climatologist Jim Angel. “The average high ranges from the low 90s to around St. Louis to the upper 80s around the northern two-thirds of Illinois. And the average high from the upper 70s to the lower 80s in the lower third of the state.” Rainfall is also above normal – but it also varies across the state. Parts of northern and east-central Illinois have received as much as 11 inches of rain while western and far southern Illinois are much drier. The latest US Drought Monitor shows western Illinois as abnormally dry with a few spots in a moderate drought. The latest outlook calls for above normal temperatures in July as well. There’s also an equal change for more or less rain than usual.
