Volunteers needed to clean up lot for future Galesburg Public Library

Volunteers are being sought for some cleanup projects this summer on the lot of what will be the future home of the Galesburg Public Library.

Volunteers are needed for several dates in the summer and fall, but as of right now they’re only seeking help for Wednesday, June 20th for lot cleanup.

The mowers for the vacant lot property have asked for assistance with cleaning cans, rocks, cinder blocks and other obstacles that liter the property.

Volunteers will be responsible for bringing their own gloves. Trash bags and a shovel can be brought as well.

On Friday, July 6th, a landscaping project will be started and volunteers are needed for that day.

The plan is to create two small rock gardens that will face Simmons and Academy streets.

Potential volunteers are encouraged to spread the word to family and friends to help get the library project started.

Questions can be directed to Beth Buck at the Library by calling (309) 343-6118 with extension 5, and for those wishing to volunteer, you can sign up by contacting Faith at the Library’s Reference Desk.
