Art, cars and more in store during Father’s Day Weekend.

An annual fundraiser for the Galesburg Civic Art Center returns Friday, June 15th at Knox College’s Whitcomb Art Center. 

The center’s Summer Soiree starts at 6:00 pm with hors d’ouvres, drinks, live entertainment and of course, local artwork. Galesburg Civic Art Center Executive Director, Tuesday Cetin says it’s the center’s year-end celebration. “We have, since the last three years, have invited different artists each year to participate,” Cetin said. “It’s a chance to showcase what others are doing. You get to see these artists create right in front of your eyes – that will later be auctioned later in the night. (There will be) music – Andy Crawford and his trio (will be playing). The setting of the Whitcomb – that building is very impressive.”  Tickets for the Summer Soiree are $40 per person at the door, art center, or online.

The America’s Run for the Fallen Galesburg Ceremony is Friday, June 15th at 6:00 pm at the Lincoln Park Veterans’ Memorial. Help honor and recognize service men and women who have died during this 5-month, 6,000 mile tribute through the America.

A Father’s Day Car Show is being held at Courtyard Estates of Knoxville Friday, June 15th. Come celebrate Dad with cars from every decade from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Henn House BBQ will be serving food – Courtyard Estates is located at 4-15 East Main in Knoxville.

Prairie Players Civic Theatre in Galesburg is celebrating 40 years of Grease with a Grease Sing-A-Long Saturday, June 16th. Forty years to the day – Grease was first released. Drinks and themed-snacks will be available to purchase, plus a raffle and a costume contest. Doors open Saturday night at 6:00 pm and the film begins at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online.

Also Saturday, the Maquon Fire Department is celebrating Fireman’s Day. Fire fighters from the past and present – and future – from all departments are invited along with your family. From 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at Maquon Park, the department will be grilling out and offering free smoke detectors – all for a free will donation.

Saturday night is also the Coachmen Cruise Night in at County Market in Lewistown from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The event will feature music, a cookout, 50/50 drawing, and prizes with the Coachmen Motor Club.
