Two deceased in Warren County crash

Two individuals from Cedar Falls, Iowa, have passed away following a two-vehicle crash in north-western Warren County.

Rescue personnel responded to the corner of Illinois Route 94, and 270th Avenue – just north of Little York – Wednesday afternoon.

According to a press release from the Illinois State Police, A 2015 Nissan Altima being driven by 84-year-old Mariam Temple was stopped at a stop sign on Illinois 135/94 at around 3:28 . The indication is that Temple did not yield the right of way for a 2001 Ford Taurus being driven by 29-year-old Robert Gates of Aledo, Illinois, and her vehicle was struck on the drivers side by Gates’ Ford.

Temple was pronounced dead on the scene. Additionally the passenger in the Nissan, 86-year-old Thoburn Thompson, was taken to OSF St. Francis in Peoria, Illinois, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Gates was transported to OSF St. Francis in Peoria with non-life threatening injuries. Gates’ passengers, 32-year-old Cindel Campbell and 62-year-old Jack Diephuis – both of Aledo, were treated and released from OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth.
