One individual sustained fatal injuries this morning after a semi-truck carrying two trailers struck a separate semi carrying a trailer of its own. The first vehicle was making its way onto Interstate 80 headed west at Annawan when the second vehicle failed to yield and struck the other’s backside.
After hitting the truck, the driver pulled over on the right shoulder where his vehicle caught fire.
Illinois State Police say the driver would die from injuries sustained.
Traffic is being diverted off I-80 West at Annawan to U.S. Route 6 to Atkinson and back onto the interstate at this time and police ask that you avoid this area if possible.
The name of the deceased driver is being withheld at this time pending notification of family.
