Galesburg man arrested on meth and domestic violence

A 29-year-old man has been arrested on drug and domestic violence charges following a foot chase with Galesburg Police.

At around 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday officers were dispatched to Goodwill at 1338 North Henderson Street. Officers were informed that Noah S. Ray was seen in the area wearing dark colored pants, a white tank top, and carrying a grey hooded sweatshirt.

According to police reports, Ray was wanted on a pair of domestic violence related charges stemming from an incident that occurred on Sunday.

Officers observed a man matching the description given to them and identified the individual as Ray, but he spotted officers and allegedly took off running north through the parking lot towards Galesburg Towers.

Officers gave chase to Ray while issuing him commands to come to a stop. He allegedly did not comply with those commands.

He was eventually spotted near a laundry room door hiding in a corner. Officers withdrew tasers and told him to lay on his stomach with his hands behind his back. This time he complied with their commands and he was handcuffed.

Ray was searched, to which officers allegedly found a hypodermic syringe and a small spoon with a brown colored substance and a piece of cotton. Officers believed the substance to be heroin.

He was taken to the Knox County Jail for processing on domestic battery and interfering with reporting domestic battery charges from the weekend incident.

Officers field tested the brown substance – which resulted in testing negative for heroin. However, the substance did test positive for methamphetamine.

Ray was charged with possession of methamphetamine under five grams, possession of drug paraphernalia, and resisting a police officer. Reports indicate that officers are requesting the State’s Attorney’s Office consider adding additional or enhanced charges because of Ray’s history with dangerous drugs.
