GPD investigating a string of weekend vandalism

The Galesburg Police Department is investigating a string of weekend vandalism that occurred around town.

At 7:54 a.m. on Sunday, officers were called out to Rotary Park in the 1600-block of West Losey Street where offensive images and language was spray painted on the restrooms in blue and purple.

Several police reports were filed as officers were called out at least three other times for graffiti.

At 8:27 officers on patrol found a yard sign that was spray painted blue and purple with offensive language in the 1100-block of Losey Street.

At 11:38 officers found offensive language in blue spray paint on the roadway of Lake Storey Road. Additional graffiti was found to a sign in the area.

At 11:52 officers were dispatched to the 800-block of Lawrence Avenue where the side of a man’s truck had been spray painted blue.

Reports indicate the blue and purple matched that of Rotary Park’s graffiti damage.

Additionally, officers were dispatched to South Pearl Street at 1:41 p.m. Sunday for another call of vandalism.

In that instance a woman discovered that someone had carved offensive language into the body of the rear passenger side of her vehicle overnight.

No arrests have been made and as of 9:30 Monday morning there were no suspects in any of the cases.
