A large fire has broken out at a chemical plant in Henry County yesterday afternoon.
Helena Chemical situated in Orion was tended to by emergency responders from a slew of local fire districts including Sherrard, Coal Valley, Silvis and Colona.
Orion Fire Chief Doug Smutzer told WHBF-TV in the Quad Cities that multiple chemicals were inside the facility but an evacuation was not necessary.
The Henry County Sheriff’s Office requested all traffic on U.S. 150 south of Orion be diverted for a period of time, but they say it has since reopened.
