Comedy, music, and performances make up this weekend.

A much-anticipated show at the Orpheum Theatre comes to Galesburg tonight “An Evening with Kevin Smith” takes the stage tonight at 7:30 pm. Smith will follow up that show tomorrow night with his and Jason Mewes live taping for their podcast: “Jay and Silent Bob Get Old” on the Orpheum stage at 10:30 pm.

“Inherit the Wind” returns to the Prairie Players stage this weekend with shows tonight and tomorrow at 7:30 pm and Sunday at 2:00 pm. Tickets for the dramatization of the famous Scopes Monkey Trial can be purchased at the Prairie Players website.

Rootabaga Jazz Festival has been this week. Saturday, April 14th at 10:00 am, Rootabaga Kids: Greg Ward & 10 Tongues will be performing a free family friendly show at the Galesburg Public Library. Saturday night at the Orpheum Theatre, Matt Ulery’s Loom with the Knox Galesburg String Quartet takes the stage at 5:00 pm. Floor and balcony seats for the show are free.

Earlier in the day Saturday, the First Christian Church in Monmouth is hosting a Bags Tournament starting at 12:00 pm. The cost is $5 per person with a payout to the 1st and 2nd place teams.
The event is also a potluck.

Saturday at 2:00 pm, the Knox College Dance Program along with other community members will be performing at Lake Storey Beach. The performance is one of 115 across the country hoping to bring attention to water issues around the country. The event includes water games and a nature walk.
