Discount tool and equipment retailer Harbor Freight Tools will find a home in Galesburg this year.Few details are known as far as how many employees can expect to be hired or a location, but a spokeswoman with the company says an opening date is tentatively set for July 31.
Also employment search engine Indeed has listings for assistant store managers in what they describe as a “new store” in Galesburg.
In that listing they say Harbor Freight is a “leader in marketing products directly to the consumer” through catalogs, their website and their retail stores.
Harbor Freight Tools began as a mail order tool business in 1977 and then opened their first store in Lexington, Kentucky in 1980.
They now have over 850 locations, more than doubling their retail presence in the last decade.
The closest ones to Galesburg now are in East Peoria, IL, Davenport, IA. and in West Burlington, IA.
