Advanced manufacturing support company building facility, pledges 52 new jobs

A new advanced manufacturing support company has announced they will set up on the south side of Galesburg, bringing with it 52 jobs over the next three years.Jupiter Machine Tool Inc. is described as a “world-class total solutions provider for the advanced manufacturing industry” according to a letter from the Knox County Area Partnership for Economic Development to their investors.

KCAP President Ken Springer says that this project is “extremely important” in developing the regional economy along the path of advanced manufacturing.

Springer says advanced manufacturing is a key growth area across the country.
Jupiter is holding a small open house prior to the next Galesburg City Council meeting on Monday for investors and the public to get acquainted with how this all works.

“The technology that this company is working on is so advanced that it’s really tough to describe it verbally, you kind of have to see it for yourself,” Springer says. “And so we thought it would be a really good idea to hold a short open house ahead of the city council meeting just so that everybody– council members and other members of the public could get a chance to check this out.”

Ray Whitehead who co-owns Pegasus Manufacturing also is a co-owner of Jupiter Machine Tool.

Jupiter is planning on building a $2.75 million, 10,000 sq. ft. facility on Enterprise Avenue, the industrial road on the south end of Galesburg with neighbors like Blick Art Materials, Euclid Beverage and Pegasus.

Galesburg City Council on Monday will consider providing limited financing for Jupiter.
