Galva Arts Council meets its fundraising goal for free summer series.

Earlier this year, the Galva Arts Council announced that they had been approved for a matching grant for up to $25,000 to present a free, outdoor concert series at Wiley Park. Each year, 15 non-profits are awarded $25,000 each in matching funds to produce the Levitt AMP Music Series. Less than three weeks ago, the council announced that they had exceeded the half-way mark in their fundraising efforts. Now this week, the council has announced that the fundraising goal has been reached. The matching grant comes from the Mortimer and Mimi Levitt Foundation which aims to utilize underused public spaces for music venues. In a press release, the Galva Arts Council said that fundraising for the series will continue throughout the concerts. In order for a donation to be matched by the Levitt Foundation, it needs to be submitted by March 18th – a week from this Sunday. The council is holding a logo contest for the series as well. When one attends a Levitt AMP Galva fundraisers at the Arts Center, one can vote – through a donation – on one of the submitted logo designs. Saturday, the Levitt AMP Galva Concert Series Soup Supper will be from 4:00pm to 6:00pm featuring Laural Almquist playing the Irish harp at the Galva Arts Council. The Galva Coffeehouse Series will follow at 7:00pm with Celtic trio Exorna. The summer concert series will be held on Sundays at 5:00pm starting on May 27th.
