Area businesses recognized at Galesburg Chamber annual dinner

The 40th annual Galesburg Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence awards and banquet dinner was held Thursday night at the Lake Storey Pavilion.

The theme Thursday was “Year of Growth”. Part of that growth was the changes happening at the Chamber over the next year.

Re-branding efforts, along with revitalizing the community with the Galesburg on Track Heart & Soul project and the master plan being developed by the Galesburg Parks and Recreation Department are just a couple of the signs of growth.

One of the things that is growing for the Chamber are initiatives and campaigns – which includes the Chamber’s “shop small” campaign.

A new small business week will expand on the Chamber’s “small business Saturday” campaign.

Awards were presented to area businesses with three categories: the Small Business Excellence award, the Innovative Excellence Award, and the Chamber Advocate Award.

The Chamber Advocate Award is presented annually – and this year, was given to Mark Lee of Klingner & Associates.

The Small Buiness award was given to Midwest Uniform Supply’s Jason Paulsgrove. The Innovation Award went to Thrushwood Farms’ Jim and Kae Hankes.

Keynote speaker Dave Dunn of Dave’s Autobody commended the Chamber on the changes being made and touched on improvements coming to Galesburg like the parks and rec master plan and the planned railroad hall of fame.
